I used to always play with Optifine without any issue. However, now whenever I install Optifine it crashes Minecraft on launch (Game Crashed: An unexpected error....). WebForge can interfere with the optifine in the mods folder if you just dragged the file there, as it could try to take the optifine installer and use it as a mod, which won't work. Just run the optifine .jar file, ypu don't need to copy it to the mods folder, then run minecraft forge again.
