The vacuum supply to the housing must be blocked off and the gasket under the choke discarded because the unit uses the housing as a ground. WebWhen the choke thermostat is adjusted, you twist the thermostat until the choke valve is closed, then another 1/8". As the choke heats up, the spring releases pressure against the tab and the vacuum in the carburetor and the weight of the linkage opens the choke. Thermostats do not open the choke directly.
