WebOlivia Hooker was born on February 12, 1915, in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Her family was one of the many families affected by the Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921 when she was only six years old. Her family's home in the Greenwood District of Tulsa, Oklahoma was broken into by a group of white men with torches and was torn apart. WebMar 31, 2024 · Bill Leighty moved to the Greenwood area with his family in 1947. His home, shown in the picture above right with his father, was located at 228 E. King St., just three blocks west of Greenwood Avenue. The Leightys moved to south Tulsa in 1958. The home was demolished as part of urban renewal.
